Four rare pink dolphins were spotted off the coast of Ao Kha on Wua Ta Lub Island in Surat Thani last Thursday by employees of Mu Ko Ang Thong National Park.

The park’s superintendent Mr Natthawat Nuisriram said that when leading his team on a sea patrol, four pink dolphins turned up and to their ship about a kilometer from the park office on Ang Thong -archipelago,
Natthawat said, “All employees took photos and videotapes of the rare pink dolphins.”
“Annually in March and April, the sea around the National Marine Park becomes crystal clear and very rich in plankton, attracting many marine life including dolphins and Bryde’s whales.
He urged the tour operators to take extra care when navigating the waters in the park area, for the safety of the marine life, especially the rare species and the coral reefs.
