A village in the Isaan has been isolated from the rest of the world for fear of Covid19 virus spread

The Committee on Communicable Diseases in Buriram Province has ordered the 14-day closure of Ban Khok Sa-ad village in Tambon Pang Ku, Prakhon Chai District, where two people with Covid19 virus were found. One of them has since passed away.

Governor Thatchakorn Hatthathayakul, chairman of the province’s Committee on Communicable Diseases, said securing the village was necessary to prevent the virus from spreading. Both patients had contact with many people in the village.

The entrances and exits of the village have been very closely guarded since 6:00 pm on Sunday. People are not allowed to enter or leave the village without permission from the disease control department.

Violators will be punished with a maximum sentence of one year in prison and/or a fine of up to 100,000 baht under section 52 of the Communicable Diseases Act (2015).

The deputy. Governor Chaiwat Junthirapong said the provincial government, Prakhon Chai district and the tambon management organization Pang Ku will provide food and other supplies to the 35 households in the village.

The ban could be lifted sooner if the situation warrants it, he said

Prakhon Chai hospital suspended non-urgent treatments for two days on Sunday after a 56-year-old patient died and was infected with Covid-19. The man worked in a bar on Soi Nana, Bangkok, and was visiting relatives.

The hospital announced that the wards would be disinfected and that medical personnel who came into contact with the patient would be tested.

Prakhon Chai is located about 40 kilometres south of the city of Buri Ram.
