From April 1, the Thai government will make it easier for foreign tourists to go on holiday in the country again. For example, the mandatory quarantine period will be shortened and more freedom is also offered during that quarantine period.

At the moment, travelers still have to quarantine for two weeks after arrival. From next month that will be 10 days for most travelers and 7 days for vaccines. Moreover, everyone can now also relax by the pool or play sports during that quarantine.

Also, the mandatory Fit-to-fly document will be abolished. Travelers must be able to show a negative PCR test result that is no more than 72 hours old.

The relaxation is a boost for the Thai tourism industry, although they would have preferred the quarantine period to be canceled altogether for vaccines. As has been the case for some time, the quarantine may only be spent in a select number of hotels.

Thailand is qualified as a ‘safe country’, so Dutch people who return from the country do not have to take any tests and do not have to be quarantined after arriving in the Netherlands.

If you are traveling to Thailand, it is best to check the government sites for all the rules or contact a specialized travel agent. Policies also vary by region.
