Will Smith answers fan questions about Chris Rock slap in video

Will Smith has spoken out for the first time since the Chris Rock incident. He shares a video on social media in which he answers questions from fans about the moment he punched the comedian during the Oscars.

“It’s been a while” reads at the beginning before the video starts. “I’ve done a lot of thinking and personal work over the past few months. You’ve asked a lot of valid questions that I wanted to take the time to answer,” Smith said.

The first question is why he didn’t apologize to Chris Rock in his victory speech. “I wasn’t quite there anymore. It’s all blurry” , who did contact the comedian after the incident. “The message I got back was that he’s not ready to talk. If he is, he would let me know. So I want to say to you, Chris, that I apologize. My behavior was unacceptable and I’ll be here when you’re ready to talk.”

He also apologizes to Rock’s mother and brother. “At that time I didn’t take into account how many people I hurt,” said Smith, who wants to emphasize again that his action is in no way justifiable. “Nothing in me thinks this was the right way to behave at the time.”

In another question, someone wants to know if Jada said anything to Smith after Rock’s joke that made Smith laugh. “No. I made a choice based on my own experiences, my past with Chris and Jada had nothing to do with that,” says Smith, who also apologizes to his family for all the negative attention they received. In addition, all nominees of the award show apologize for their moment damaged.
