Woman from Brazil gives birth to baby weighing 7.3 kilos
A 27-year-old woman from the Brazilian municipality of Parintins has had a difficult birth. According to local media, her son weighed 7.3 kilograms at birth.
TOO BIG BABY
The child was delivered via caesarean section on Wednesday, January 18 and was named Angerson Santos. Mother Cleidiane Santos dos Santos was 40 weeks pregnant when she heard during a routine check-up at the hospital that she could no longer wait to give birth. Doctors said the baby was too big.
Barely 24 hours later, Angerson was born with a weight of 7.3 kilograms and a length of 59 centimeters. “I didn’t expect this surprise,” Cleidiane told local media. “I thought he would be about four kilos, but it turned out to be seven.”

Still, Angerson has not broken a record in Brazil. In 2005, a child was born who weighed 7.6 kilograms. The world record has been held by an Italian baby for more than sixty years. In 1995, a baby was born who weighed no less than 10.2 kilograms.
