Woman survives fall from balcony on the third floor in Jomtien, suspected accident after drinking too much
A Thai woman has suffered several injuries after falling from a third-floor balcony the day before yesterday while smoking a cigarette.
Emergency services were notified at 11 p.m. of the incident, which took place in an apartment on Soi 4 of Jomtien beach road.
The police and the volunteer emergency services arrived with a local reporter in their retinue and found 41-year-old from Sakhon Nakhon (northeast of Thailand) Khun Pinkaew Butpan lying on the ground.
She had sustained several injuries, but was fully conscious and expected to recover. She was taken to a local hospital for medical attention.
27-year-old Sonpoom Pupiluek, a witness, told Jelle the following: Pinkaew and I were having a drink in the room at a birthday party when Khun told Pinkaew she wanted a cigarette. Pinkaew went out to smoke on the balcony and leaned over the railing and before I knew it she was downstairs. And yes …. we had drunk a lot!
Pattaya Police believe there was no malicious intent and the story was true.
It is NOT known if there would be any charges surrounding a gathering as parties and social gatherings are currently in Chonburi against the law due to Covid19 related measures. These strict rules prohibit all gatherings involving alcohol from more than one person. Therefore, gatherings such as birthday parties are against current legal regulations to stop the possible spread of Covid-19.
